Let us take you for a short
walk into town:
on our way we cross the Maitai River
and walk along Bridge Street,
passing the beautiful Queens Gardens
adjacent
to the Suter Gallery with
its permanent exhibitions of local artists. We reach Trafalgar
Street, the main shopping street in Nelson with friendly
cafes and alfresco seatings.
To the left there is Nelson Cathedral and the Provincial
Museum, to the right the City Council with the Post Office
on the ground floor, and the Information Centre on the banks
of the Maitai River.
Just follow Bridge Street for another 100 meters and there
is the bus depot.
Still not tired after exploring the city centre? Just drop
off your purchases at your room and go for a hike up to
the top of the Centre of New Zealand
which offers beautiful views over the harbour, Boulder Bank,
Tasman Bay, Able Tasman National Park, the Western Ranges,
the town and the surrounding hills.
If that sounds too hard,
why not start right at our doorstep for a nice stroll along
the lovely Maitai River. Besides all the other comforts
Sunflower Cottage is also well prepared for visitors who
require wheelchair access.
